On February 14th, 1977, a virus strain was found inside of Shanti Suresh. The effects of the disease was harmful and Shanti succumbed to her illness. The virus strain was said to attack and nervous system and supress Shanti's abilities since she was declared an evolved human being. The Company, a clandestine organization who's interest is to capture and track evolved used a mutated strain of the virus to suppress the abilities of those most dangerous to them. The Company's interest with the virus strain didn't stop there as they ordered their biological engineer, Victoria Pratt, to manipulate the virus into a weapon - thus Strain 138 was born.
Adam Monroe, the man who brought The Company founders together, attempted to release Strain 138 upon the world until he was stopped. Nearly 30 years later he attempted again after escaping from The Company's hands and succeeded despite the combined efforts of Peter Petrelli, Hiro Nakamura, Nathan Petrelli and Matt Parkman who tried to stop him.
March 2007
- The Shanti Virus begins to take its toll on Odessa, Texas after the vile containing Strain 138 is broken and released into the air.
- The CDC (Center for Disease Control & Prevention) issues a nationwide alert on the Shanti Virus that begins to spread across Texas and its surrounding states.
- Evacuation notices begin.
April 2007
- Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana succumb to the Shanti virus.
- A nationwide quarantine begins. Survivors begin to travel to the east coast.
May 2007-2008
- Half of the United States falls to the virus, signs of the virus are reported in Europe and Asia.
- New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland are the only states reported to be safe in the United States.
- The Shanti Virus consumes 93% of the world's population.
2009
- A cure for the virus is put on hold.
- Plans for recolonization begin.

Rules
01. Create a journal for your character and check the taken characters section before you apply. After you fill out your application please wait at least 1 day for your application can be approved. If two or more days pass then email us again to check in. Sometimes the mods will be busy or dealing with some kind of crisis. Patience is a virtue or however that shit goes.
02. After approval check your invites to join the communities. After that is done go friend the mod journal before going here to friend all other journals.
03. Unless you are playing a created character, remember to 'be true' to the canon you are playing. This RPG doesn't allow incest or any kind of canon character getting together with someone who they probably wouldn't get with in the show. Also, characters that died in season one/halfway through season two can't be revived in this alternative storyline.
04. You are only allowed up to (3) characters unless otherwise stated by the mods. That means you can have 2 canon characters and 1 made up OR 2 made ups and 1 canon. You will only be able to play 3 canons. We don't want you playing with yourself.
05. You all know this, but again, no OOC business into IC. I've known of a lot of storylines that have this rule and yet sooner or later a fight breaks out about the dumbest things known to man. If this rule is broken there will be no toleration whatsoever.
06. Will there be fights? Of course. There will be epic battles. When battling make sure to keep things fair and if you end up in a tight spot then please decide nicely who wins and who fails miserably. No grudges, please.
07. No God-modding. Please, no making characters with SUPER powers and impossible to stop. We all frown upon that. No Captain Planet in Syndicates.
08. We are all mature adults and yes, there will be sexual content. Please state in your thread whether or not there is sexiness going on. We all love porn, I'm sure.
09. With a mass epidemic having broken out all characters will be begin in/transferred to New York City since it's one of the only cities having been blocked off from the shanti virus
11. We ask that you try and post at least once a week. It's really not a lot to ask, maybe an hour (or more!) out of your week. If for some reason there are special circumstances as to why you can't do so, please let the Mods know via email.
12. One last rule. Have fun! If you're not here to have fun then what are you doing? Causing drama? Scandalous! This isn't Mean Girls, so, none of that here. This place is here for an escape.
FAQ
01. How do I post in the main community? It's easy.
02. Alright, I'm new here. What the frak is Heroes? Do I really need to watch the show to play here? I have ten million kids and a job! I don't have time to watch television: Heroes is an American science fiction drama television series, created by Tim Kring, which premiered on NBC on September 25, 2006. The show tells the story of several people who "thought they were like everyone else... until they woke with incredible abilities" such as telepathy, time travel and flight. These people soon realize they have a role in preventing a catastrophe and saving mankind. The series follows the writing style of American comics with short, multi-episode story arcs that build upon a larger, more encompassing arc. Even with small story arcs that move the story forward. With that said, it isn't entire needed that you watch every single episode of Heroes to RP here. We do have the original canon characters here but we also have made up characters that you can apply for in order to join in the mix. Sure, you might not understand what is going on at times - which might push you to start watching the show but it's not 100% needed. You just need a basic understanding.
03. I'm having a real hard time trying to figure out what character to make. Good guy. Bad guy. Neutral. Ugh! Does my character need to have a power to play here?: If you're having trouble trying to find out a power then you can check here, a list of various super human powers. You can also ask the mods to examine your character and choose a power for you. However, you don't need a power to join the SL, you can easily apply as a regular human being. Yes, you can be the Mary Jane Watson to someone's Peter Parker.
04. I'm all joined and my character is ready to go. Any suggestions?: First off, you should have some kind of back story to your character. You can easily place them somewhere alone to deal with their own personal life drama or put them close to where other characters are and have them interact.
05. Are there crossovers?: No. This is all Heroes-based. The Charmed Ones or Clark Kent can't wrestle with Sylar or Noah Bennet. You are free to use their actors/actress as PBs though.
06. Is this completely journal based? Is there chat play?: Sadly, no. The reason for forums is that it's easier to keep track of threads and sometimes not everyone is in the same timezones. We might have Sally, who plays a really important character, never online whereas with John, who plays an important character that interacts with Sally's, is always on when she is not. So, it's easier this way. We never have to wait around for chat play when you can just reply to them and then wait patiently for them to reply back.
07. Do I need an example post for each of my applications?: Nope! We just need the first one to determine your experience.
